Waterman's End House is set amongst attractive open countryside only about 400m from Matching Green, reputedly one of the largest village greens in England. The house is and probably dates from the late 16th century and is Grade II Listed, considered to be of architectural and historical merit. The majority of the building is traditionally constructed with a timber frame with rendered and weather boarded elevations under a tiled roof. The house provides excellent accommodation of great character including a particularly fine drawing room which has two bay windows and fireplaces at either end, one with a wood burning stove. There is a timbered dining room with wood panelling, a study with a bay window and wood burning stove, which lies to the front of the house. At the back of the house an inner hall leads to a ground floor bathroom and to the kitchen/breakfast room, which has been recently re-fitted with an excellent range of storage cupboards and integrated appliances. On the first floor there is a family bathroom and four bedrooms, one en suite.
Outside, a semi-circular driveway provides general parking to the front and behind the house. The gardens are well established with lawns, herbaceous borders, box hedging, lavender and a useful storage shed. The plot extends to almost half an acre. From the house there are lovely views, mainly over open countryside.
Matching Green is considered to be one of the prettiest North Essex villages, and enjoys a convenient location for Harlow and the M11 motorway (Junction 7) providing access to London, the M25, Cambridge and the Midlands. The London Underground (Central Line) is accessible from Epping (approx 10 minute drive). There is a mainline rail service from Harlow (6 miles) to London Liverpool Street, and good shops, schools, recreational and sporting facilities, including indoor pool, golf course etc, are available in Harlow and Bishop's Stortford (10 miles). There are village shops at Hatfield Heath (3 miles) whilst Matching Green has a primary school and village inn.
