We asked the current owner of his views on the property and the local area - so here's what he said,

What first attracted you to the property?

This amount of land in Godmanchester is unheard of, having lived in Godmanchester for 35 years staying within the village was a key thing for me but I was really wanting space to develop the property but also land for my dogs and for me to enjoy, so this property ticked all the boxes. Being right in the centre of Old Godmanchester was a huge benefit due to the catchment of the local schools and amenities. The garden was what it sold for me, I knew within 15 seconds of viewing it that this was the home I wanted to move into. Its lived up to all my expectations on so many levels

What is the village of Godmanchester like? Is there a good community feel?

In my opinion it's one of the best villages in Cambridgeshire, its picturesque, with a fantastic community feel - even though it's a growing village, there is a real sense that everyone knows each other and has that real friendly feel to it. Every year in July there is a party in the park for the locals, fireworks on bonfire night and New Year. 3 local quality pubs which often hold events at the weekend, all serve lovely meals and have gardens to enjoy in the summer. There's a really good local football and cricket teams for those who enjoy their sport and both are within walking distance from the property. Access to Cambridge and Peterborough which are only 15 minutes away and London is less than an hour away on the train with the station only being a mile away from the property.

What are the qualities of the house and garden and why have you found them a pleasure/useful?

Since moving into the home, I have given it the contemporary look and feel, 2 sets of bi-fold doors added, 2 balconies, added in an outdoor heated pool (which has an air source heat pump), log cabin which guests use when they stay making it into a 7th bedroom which at xmas has always been handy when the family have been over. Added in a 2 car, carport, the tiki hut - and then the most recent thing ive added in is the 2nd bedroom with an ensuite and balcony which is now my favourite room in the property and the gym/6th Bedroom.

Weirdly, even though I have the pool, hot tub and 1 and half acres of outdoor space, what I really love is the security of the property, the gates, the CCTV, wherever you are in the house, you can see everything in it. Ive loved the garden, many a night we have spent outdoors with friends. It really is a unique property for the area with a little bit of everything that I wanted, space, character, land, close to everything - its been a fantastic home
