Description

The property is Grade II listed, originates from 1590, re-fronted in 1700 (Queen Anne), and further extended in 1829. It was originally a private residential home, belonging to Peggy Melville. It was then used as an nhs practice, which dissolved and is now a private doctors surgery. The surgery still very much reflects the décor of a family home with the arrangement of the rooms and the remaining period features, including sash windows, fireplaces and exposed beams. Planning permission for change of use from doctors surgery to residential was granted in July 2019.

On entering the property through the front door, this takes you into the hallway with stairs to first floor and access to the drawing room and garden room to the rear of the property. The reception room which could be a dining room has sash windows looking out to the front of the property with built in cupboards and shelving. The sitting room, has a sash window to the front and an original Adam fireplace rescued from a bombsite in London, with a display alcove. To the rear of the property is the drawing room, which overlooks the rear garden and patio area, the utility with built in cupboards, sink and space for a fridge. The garden room is a conversion of the garage, with double glass doors leading out onto the patio.

There are four good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor, with separate wc and views to the rear overlooking the church and neighbouring gardens. Bedroom 4 has a flying freehold over the neighbouring kitchen.

The garden is enclosed by a high brick wall with access from the house and to the rear through a pedestrian gate. Immediately adjacent to the house is a patio ideal for entertaining with steps up leading to a lawn area with some mature trees and shrubs.

This property is ripe for renovation, a project to bring it back to its former glory! It would make an ideal family home, or for those looking to downsize to move into a lively community with facilities on the doorstep.
