Seller Insight

Built in c1850, this extremely attractive five-bedroom family home occupies an exceptionally picturesque location within the rural hamlet of Little Green. “We moved to the house way back in March 1991, so we’ve been here almost three decades. All our children have grown up here and it’s a place where we’ve been extremely happy, ” says the owner. “I still remember very well the first time we viewed the house, the traditional brick floor in the kitchen, and the lovely big garden with the countryside views all around us. We instinctively knew it was for us.”

“When our predecessors bought the property in the late 1980s it was still in its original form, with bricks on dirt floors and a sheep in what is now the downstairs family bathroom! By the time we moved in, the house had been completely renovated so it was in great condition and immediately habitable. However, over time we too have made many further improvements. We’ve added a two-storey extension, which gave us a larger kitchen with pantry, an extra bedroom and a larger master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. We’ve also added a garden/summer room, a small external utility room, and the windows have been replaced with wood-framed double-glazed units. And we’ve built a new double garage with a room above that can be used as office space, or for just about anything. All these changes have enhanced the property no end and given us a much more spacious and comfortable home.”

“The garden has also been much improved and now consists of two quite distinct areas. We have a smaller section that’s fully enclosed, which leads through a wrought iron gate into the main garden. It’s mainly laid to lawn and has a children’s wooden swing and a quiet, secluded seating area in one far corner. There’s also a traditional wheeled chicken house, which has been used in the past and could definitely be used again. The garden is a delightful feature of the property and one that we have all enjoyed. It’s a lovely place for relaxing and entertaining, and there’s more than enough space for an informal game of tennis or football.”

“Our kitchen/dining room area is the real heart of our home, and where we tend to spend most of our time. The units were handmade in reclaimed pine, so it has the look and feel of a real country kitchen, and it’s a room with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.”

“The house sits on a quiet lane, away from the main road, and we enjoy views of virtually nothing but farmland so it’s a very restful place to live. However, we have the added advantage of having a small number of neighbours, and we’re in close proximity to a lovely little village with a really strong sense of community.”

“This has been a lovely place to share with family and friends, and we’ve had some wonderful times here. We have many fond memories of family Christmases spent here, lots of children's birthday parties, baby showers, and when our children were younger, they often invited their friends to camp out in the garden.”

“From the first day we moved to this house we have always felt it a privilege to be able to walk straight out onto the farm track to enjoy the walks around the area, ” says the owner. “We had dogs for many years and so that was certainly a real added bonus. It’s just one of the many things that we will certainly miss. It really has been such a happy home and an idyllic place to bring up our family.”

"However, it’s now time for us to move on to be closer to family, but it will be a wrench to leave our home of so many years."
