Description

The Forge is a special Grade II* listed character village house that really has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

The house provides spacious rooms with excellent ceiling heights throughout.

Evidently, the house has an abundance of character. It has been tastefully and sympathetically enhanced over the years.

Complementing the house perfectly, the part walled, immaculately manicured rear garden has been designed to provide a secluded sanctuary, with stretches of lawn, colourful borders and various seating areas, screened with mature trees.

Features

No doubt, the stand out room of the house is the vaulted barn at the back of the house. Utilised as an open plan drawing and dining room. Featuring a large brick chimney breast housing a wood-burning stove and a wealth of exposed beams and brick/stone work, plus some of the original wattle and daub infilling, this exceptional space is a sight to behold.

An excellent kitchen/breakfast room fitted in a country style with a contemporary twist including a dresser, hand-painted units, wooden worksurfaces, aga and an open fireplace. The adjoining utility room is fitted with a comprehensive range of units and has space for an American style fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

Several of the rooms in the house feature wide oak floorboards or mellow brick flooring.

Exposed beams are a recurring feature throughout the house, yet the ceiling heights for a property of this age are excellent.

Drop latch wooden doors, multi-pane and lead light windows with wooden shutters.

Old shop front secondary glazed display window in the sitting room.

Fireplaces in the drawing/dining room, sitting room (both having wood-burning stoves), kitchen, reception hall and two of the bedrooms (2 blocked/disused).

Period style cast iron radiators throughout.

Five good sized double bedrooms on the first floor.

Traditional style modern white bathroom suites including a roll-top standalone bath in the family bathroom.

Glazed viewing window on the first floor displaying the exposed original roofing tiles for the house.

Detached double garage plus additional parking on the gravel driveway behind lockable double close-board gates.

Beautiful part-walled garden with various seating areas, lovingly planted borders, fruit and ornamental trees.
