‘ Some thoughts from our client on equestrian suitability ‘

'Goughellen has been the perfect equestrian property to be able to manage horses and ponies from the convenience of home. With the addition of the ménage, we have been able to bring on a young horse, and hacking from here is fantastic. Leaving the front drive there is a short (about a third of a mile) stretch along the main road but once you are on the slip road at Perrott’s Brook there are quiet country rides. There are abundant hacking routes including idyllic villages like Bagendon, Daglingworth, Middle Duntisbourne and Woodmancote (with bridleways), or along the Monarch’s Way along the bottom of the valley towards Baunton. You can also hack into Cirencester Park from here or it is only a 10-minute drive in the lorry to parking areas to hack from. There’s plenty of places to compete with Hunters (for dressage) on the edge of Cirencester, as well as Rectory Farm (15 minutes away) with show jumping or cross-country schooling, and Prestige Equestrian Centre (30 mins away). Other venues within easy reach include Deer Park Cross Country course at Brockhampton Near Andoversford, Lynham Heath Cross Country course, Chipping Norton and Hartpury with all year round competitions. There are numerous pony clubs and Hunts close by including the vwh, Cotswold, and the Beaufort. Similarly, there are lovely dog walks, with a footpath along the side of the house that takes you across fields to the top of the Welsh Way into Bagendon, or you can follow the Monarch’s way through Baunton and all the way to Cirencester. In the other direction, you can walk all the way to the Bathurst Arms in North Cerney for a pint! Whilst not busy on the horse there is also Cirencester Golf Club 3 minutes’ walk away (with a restaurant and bar) for those who enjoy non-horsey sports!'

The market town of Cirencester is often referred to as the 'Capital of the Cotswolds'. It is ideally located with the M4, M5 and M40/A40, the mainline train station at Kemble and excellent bus and coach links all within easy reach.

Cirencester benefits from high street stores, independent specialist retailers, and a weekly market. There are also several delightful bistros, cafes, wine bars and public houses to suit all tastes. Cirencester boasts a community hospital, leisure centre and a lovely outdoor swimming pool. Nearby there is golf, tennis, riding, football, rugby and cricket.

There are excellent primary and secondary state schools and a sixth form college campus. There are also good independent schools in the surrounding areas.
