Own a 'Wainwright'.
Alfred Wainwright mbe was a fellwalker, guidebook author and illustrator. His seven-volume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, published between 1955 and 1966 and consisting entirely of reproductions of his manuscript, has become the standard reference work to 214 of the fells in the English Lake District.
This is a one-off opportunity to acquire a “Wainwright” as described in the six page section on Low Fell in Book Seven of his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells – The Western Fells.
A chance to own a “Wainwright” in the Lake District. Purchase Raven Crag - part of Wainwright’s Low Fell with its “many tops”, and which may have the best views in the Lake District! As Wainwright suggests this land may have the real summit and the best views.
In Wainwright’s own words “the view is of classical beauty, an inspired and inspiring vision of loveliness that has escaped the publicity of picture postcards and poets’ sonnets, a scene of lakes and mountains arranged to perfection”. A “perfectly composed view of mountain and lake scenery, a connoisseur’s piece”.
