Directions

Monastery Bells is most easily located by leaving our Painwick office in the direction of Cheltenham on the A46. Continue out of the village towards Cheltenham. Shortly after passing the Royal William public house, turn right signposted to Cranham and Birdlip, then immediately right again signposted to Cranham. Continue into the village passing the village hall on your right and continue up the hill onto The Knoll, taking the second right where the entrance to Monastery Bells can be found on your right hand side.

Location

Cranham is set in a 'hidden valley' flanked by beech woods, surrounded by approximately 60 acres of common land. Whilst Cheltenham, Stroud and Cirencester are in easy commuting distance, Cranham nonetheless remains a beautiful and peaceful rural parish. Its' mixed age population of less than 500 people, supports a village pub, church, tennis and cricket clubs, as well as a popular primary school (within walking distance of Monastery Bells). With glorious countryside on the door step, there is ample opportunity for exercise and country walks. Cheltenham, with its excellent shopping, schools, theatre and festivals is less than 9 miles away. The village of Painswick, often referred to as the 'Queen of the Cotswolds' is a five minute drive away, with local shops, pubs and boutique hotel and restaurants, as well as an 18 hole golf course. Stroud, further down the valley, has 4 major supermarkets, an award winning Farmer's Market and a main line station (approx 90 minutes to London Paddington); by road, the journey to London is circa 2.5 hours, joining the M4 (Swindon), while junction 11a of the M5 for commuting to Bristol or the West Midlands, is less than 15 minutes drive.
