General Information

Brakefield Crescent is situated in Haroldswick at the north end of Unst, Britain's most northerly inhabited island which measures approximately 12 miles long by five miles wide.

Although the island has a population of only around 650 it has excellent amenities most of which are based in Baltasound, the main population centre a few miles south of the house, where there is a Junior High School, superb leisure centre / swimming pool, several local shops (one with fuel), post office, garage, doctors surgery, care centre, hotel & marina. Haroldswick itself has a heritage centre and small boat museum, a tea room plus a small brewery at the Saxa Vord resort.

The island is connected to mainland Shetland by regular ro-ro ferry service which runs throughout the day from Belmont at the south end of Unst, to the neighbouring island of Yell (approximately 10 minute crossing), and from Yell to Toft on mainland Shetland (approximately 20 minute crossing).

The house which is understood to have been built in the mid-1970's, had new doors and windows fitted in 2017. Heating is by electric radiators.
