Description
The agent says...
Secluded and peaceful but within easy reach of commuter routes and amenities, Applegarth offers the rural idyll with the benefit of convenience. The property is light and spacious but also lovely and cosy, thanks to the interconnecting rooms, beams and mellow warmth of exposed hamstone walls. It’s easy to imagine enjoying the garden and its wonderful views in the summer but also snuggling up around the fire in the cold of winter.
The property

Entering the property, there is a WC to the right and on the left stairs rise to the first floor. Ahead a doorway opens to the dining room which interconnects with the kitchen (and adjoining breakfast room) and the sitting room. Currently used as a hobby/informal sitting room the dining room is generously proportioned and has plenty of scope for alternative uses. It benefits from exposed stone and beams, storage and french doors to the garden. Two steps lead down to the formal sitting room, which is wonderfully cosy and characterful, with a hamstone fireplace and wood burning stove, beams, exposed stone, wood panelling and a feature arched recess in the wall. At the other end of the dining room is the well-equipped kitchen which leads through to the light and spacious breakfast room with its bifolding doors (and single side door) out to the patio and garden. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, the family bathroom and plenty of built-in wardrobe and storage space on the landing. The vaulted ceiling and large window in the principal bedroom give the room a lovely airy feel. The en-suite is light and well-designed to make best use of space. Bedroom 2 is a good-sized double with views front and back and has its own wash basin. Bedroom 3 is a smaller double and bedroom 4/ study is a small single.
Gardens and grounds

At the side of the property a timber field gate provides access to the gravel parking area, garage and workshop at the rear. There is a separate pedestrian gate alongside. Behind the property is a lovely, large patio area with access from the breakfast and dining rooms. The large lawned garden offers far-reaching views over the delightful pastoral landscape of South Somerset.
Surrounding area

Middle Chinnock is a pretty hamlet built of local hamstone and is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside. The neighbouring village of West Chinnock has a school and pub whilst Crewkerne (circa 5 miles) has mainline rail connections and a Waitrose supermarket. Middle Chinnock is convenient for the larger regional towns of Yeovil and Taunton and is also within easy reach of the A303.
Directions

From Yeovil follow the A30 in a westerly direction, passing through the villages of West Coker and East Chinnock. After a short distance, having just passed Whitepost garage on the right-hand side, turn right (signposted West Chinnock/Chiselborough). Proceed into the hamlet of Middle Chinnock and continue to follow this road until you get to the top of the hill. At the junction turn right and the property will be found on the right-hand side.
