Sellers Insight

Set well back from the road within the thriving market town of March stands this remarkable, spacious, family home. Parts of the house date back to the late 1700s and it has been the subject of a major refurbishment project since it was purchased by its present owners in 2000.

The owners were wishing to move to a larger property. It was happenchance that they saw this sad, neglected, house, more or less hidden from the road, overgrown with brambles and ivy. However, on viewing, they could see beyond its sad unhappy state and fell in love with its quirky character and recognised its potential to become a special family home once more. They totally gutted the house, replaced ancient plumbing and electricity supplies with state-of-the-art equipment. Many essential hidden tasks were undertaken including replacing windows with traditional sash ones. They peeled back the years to reveal hidden gems such as a glorious inglenook fireplace, ancient beams and wonderful floors. The owners researched similar aged properties, spoke with professionals and everyone involved with the renovation respected the integrity and history of the house.

The transformation has been astonishing and it is now definitely a home with the ‘wow’ factor; a theme followed throughout. Having lots of space and facilities offers a flexible layout for any number of activities - including home working. It is a home which welcomes friends and family whatever the occasion. At Christmas, when adorned, the house seems to come into its own and is definitely a family favourite at this special time.

Th owners describe their home as being ‘wholesome and friendly’. They can feel justly proud in rescuing this property and giving it back its history and character, whilst creating a wonderful comfortable and luxurious family home.

The bustling market town has much to offer and contains everything necessary for day to day living. Schools are in the town, with Kings Independent School at Ely being conveniently close. Larger urban centres are within easy reach, whilst rail networks are easy to access. In addition, sport and leisure facilities are plentiful.
