The first floor extension was completed in 2018 and has created two very generous double bedrooms and a luxury bathroom suite as well as a reading area to sit and reflect and make the most of the peace and tranquillity that this location offers.

The rear garden is a complete wrap around with flower and shrub borders, water feature, patio for al-fresco dining as well as offering access to the well-appointed garage. There is further off-street parking to the front.

Sellers Insight

“It was the autumn of 2003 when we moved from North London to Dolby Close, Wimblington. We loved the bungalows and the wide-open surrounding countryside which was vastly different to our previous home. There were no such things as traffic jams and pollution, and the sky views went on forever, ” say the current owners.

“Starting a garden from scratch became the main focus for many years. We planted fruit trees, roses, shrubs, and bulbs, as well as digging the pond which was a huge project. Retirement gave us the chance to build our perfect garden with plenty of space to potter, BBQ and relax in social gatherings. We celebrated my mother’s 90th birthday here in 2008 with a big party and last year we said goodbye by marking her long life with extended family and neighbours who gave such tremendous support to us.”

“Since our retirement we have spent 7 years exploring the River Ouse on our boat, The Lady Emily. Ely is only a 25-minute drive away and it is a wonderful city with many interesting features and buildings, as well as some lovely shops. Cambridge is also a ‘must visit’ as it’s so vibrant and cosmopolitan with students cycling here, there, and everywhere. You always come away with a feeling of hope for the future.”

“In 2017 we started to draw up our own plans for ‘Windrush’. Most thought we were crazy, but we were excited to take on a major project. We employed a brilliant team who made our dreams come true, and what an adventure for us! ‘Windrush’ became ‘The Tardis’ creating almost double the floor space with two massive bedrooms and a huge bathroom on the second floor. The Velux windows create so much more light downstairs too.”

“The local area is quiet and there are many opportunities to participate in village life. There are good schools in the area, as well as medical services which are second to none. Our local GPs are super fantastic, as are the hospitals, especially Addenbrookes, and there are many satellite bases for you to visit for minor ailments. So, why are we leaving? Well, we love it here, and we are only moving about 1 mile away, so we still have all the facilities of our village and the next one. We’re looking forward to embarking on another project to keep ourselves alive and kicking, ” conclude the current owners.
