We bought this house from new in 2013. We both have full time jobs in the City (lockdown permitting), and as commuters we find this house very convenient. We are currently using the front double bedroom for home working in lockdown. We have a convertible sofa bed in that room which makes up a double bedroom for occasional guests. The fibre internet is reliable running at 60Mbs with no problems streaming Netflix.

We often walk to Petts Wood Station (20 minutes), or on wet days the long term parking is surprisingly low cost. The station at Petts Wood has direct trains running about every 10-15 minutes to Central London, Canon Street, London Bridge, Waterloo and Charing Cross. London Bridge is accessed in 30 minutes and we can usually get a seat even at peak times. Victoria is accessed with a change of train at Bromley South.

We have a regular bus service (R3) running at the end of the street which serves Petts Wood Station, the Supermarket and the nearby hospital which has an emergency service. We also have a local One Stop round the corner, which we use if we run out of essentials. The prices are sometimes better than Sainsbury’s. Just 5 minutes walk from the front door there exists a working farm with open fields and country and a children’s play park. Bromley Golf Course is a 10 minute walk. This is very quiet both day and night.

In 2013 we were originally looking at 2 bedroom flats in Bromley, Southlands and Beckenham, however for about the same price we were very excited to find this lovely house having a garden with much more space than you would get with a flat, We also found the entrance hall and stairs to be particularly spacious and there is a ground floor toilet and washroom. We also had some plans drawn up for a third en-suite double bedroom so there is some potential. The house is very cosy and warm with good modern insulation. The solar panels work well and we get a modest cheque from British Gas every quarter.

We are both fair weather cyclists. In the spring and summer we cycle around the villages of Knockholt, Downe, and Biggin Hill being in stunning Kent countryside, only a 30 minute ride away by bike and 10 minutes by car.

We saw this house as being a rare find and we had no hesitation in reserving it the same day we saw it.
