Relaxing in the glorious Autumn sunshine at their magnificent Highbury home, the owners of Highbury agree they have had 6 fantastic years at the impressive property. Built from new, the individually designed five-bedroom home, is just one off four unique properties tucked away on a cul-de-sac, in a sought-after corner of Trelewis known to the locals as "StormTown".

Highbury was built on the site of a much older estate therefore enjoys very established, scenery as far as eye can see, one of them explains. "As soon as we saw the plot of land and what was around it, we loved it. It was within walking distance of the mountain tops but still very close to the village, so we get the rural we were looking for, but not too far out."

There is a wonderful flow between all its living spaces and out into its gardens, making it ideal for entertaining and big family occasions.

"With every bedroom having a bathroom, we also knew it would be a very easy place in which to have guests to stay."

Set back from the road, there is ample space for cars to park, since moving into the three-storey home, the owners have maintained the property to an impeccably high standard. It has state-of-the art heating and lighting systems and has been redecorated regularly. "We have fairly neutral colours in many of the rooms to make the most of natural light throughout the property and enhance the feeling of space, " the other owner adds.

The imposing house is entered via a grand reception hall, where an impressive staircase sweeps up to a galleried landing and three sets of doors open into the main living spaces. "There are few of us, with our children in the family so there are often a lot of people in the house and we wanted space for everyone to move around easily. We also love to entertain and have had 40 to 60 people here on occasion, " she continues. "We have had all sorts of parties here over the years, both inside the house and out."

From the hall, there is access to the television room, family room, dining room and kitchen breakfast room, as well as the spectacular, dual-aspect dining room. There is a ground-floor cloakroom, utility room. Double doors from the hallway leads into the chic, contemporary kitchen, which has a stylish central island. French doors from the kitchen, family room & dining room open on to a large entertaining terrace. "We spend a lot of our time in the kitchen and family room and in the summer enjoy wandering out into the garden, " he explains.

Four of the bedrooms are situated on the first floor of the house: Each has fitted wardrobes and an en-suite bath or shower room. "One of the bedrooms, which has access to the family bathroom is so large that people often think it is the master suite, " she says. "The main bedroom, however, is even more spacious." This room comes with lots of light and amazing views and huge shower room!

"On the floor above, we have another bedroom which in all honestly we don't really use only when we have guests but it has the flexibility to be used to whatever your needs are."

Highbury rests perfectly in a quite area of Trelewis Treharris very close to the beautiful Welsh Mountains and the Taff Trail, which is lovely for walking. "This is a great part of the world if you enjoy the outdoors, " she says. "There is a golf course close by and lots of opportunities for fishing." There are excellent country pubs in the vicinity, plus castles and historic sites to visit and good leisure facilities.

The area is ideal for families and for food-lovers. Here there is an abundance of excellent places to eat, as well as food festivals and events.

The world-famous annual Caerphilly Big Cheese Food Festival takes place in Caerphilly town a few miles away and people come from far and wide to attend. Highbury is in the village of Trelewis. This sought-after location is close to the local junior school and is ideally placed for easy access to the A470 trunk road. The train station is within walking distance of the property and provides an easy link to Merthyr Tydfil & Cardiff.

The friendly village is also well placed for travelling. "It is approximately 20 minutes' drive to the M4 so getting across the country and to London is easy, " she says. It's within reach of beautiful Cardiff also offering lots of amenities, there is an easy balance between valley living and convenience.

"This was a wonderful place for our children to grow up and we have always been very happy here - we have celebrated lots of special occasions at the house, from Christmas and birthdays to other family get-together's. I do like to think of someone else moving in now and enjoying it as much as we did - it could be a fabulous family home once again."
