Vendor Comment "We moved to the house four years ago and have loved living in it. It has been renovated in an ecologically conscious manner – insulated walls at the front and rear of the building and extra thick insulation in the loft keep the house warm in winter and cool in summer. The living room is really cosy and great to spend winter evenings enjoying the wood burning stove. The garden is lovely – despite being north facing it gets a lot of sun in the summer and we have managed to grow mint, rosemary, oregano, sage, potatoes and tomatoes, then there’s also the bay tree, ginkgo, pear tree and a young crab apple tree.
Southey Street is a short walk from local shops, restaurants and pubs in St Werburgh’s (favourite pub: Miner’s Arms, lunch: The Farm Cafe, dinner: The Cauldron, favourite takeaway: Golden Spiced).
There is also the city farm and lots of amazing green spaces within walking distance including Narroways nature reserve, Stoke park and Eastville park. St Werburgh's is a lovely neighbourhood that is close to the city – the city centre is about a 30 minute walk and Stokes Croft is only 10 minutes – yet retains the feel of a village. It’s also really easy to get in and out of Bristol with access to the M32.
The former Brook’s Laundry site opposite has undergone a total transformation since we moved here, the Southey Street part of the development is now looking nearly finished. When the whole development is complete it will totally transform the area and will provide direct access to Mina Road park from Southey Street. It’s sad for us to be leaving before it’s all finished but we need a bit more space for our growing family."
