House For Sale £825,000
Highworth Road, Faringdon, Oxfordshire SN7

Description
On the edge of the Cotswolds in the pretty market town of Faringdon is this meticulously finished, four-bedroom, eco-friendly house and garden. Built from the ground up with countless state-of-the-art conveniences, it’s a spacious country home tailor-made for a busy modern family.

Brickworks Says

This vast four-bedroom house on the fringes of the Cotswolds leaves no stone unturned in the pursuit of an eco-friendly country lifestyle with the moddest of cons. The striking asymmetrical silhouette is built around a central atrium that bathes the entire space in light. Downstairs, Brazilian slate flooring anchors the airy, contemporary design of the open-plan kitchen, which seamlessly transitions to the garden via bi-fold doors in the conservatory and sliding glass doors in the dining area. Upstairs, the bamboo-floored bedrooms and spa-like bathrooms flow off of a skylit mezzanine, maximizing space and light. There’s a cosy sitting room with wood-burning fireplace and bonus rooms to boot: A home office, utility room (complete with a laundry chute), family/playroom and a full basement.

As for the fit and finish, it’s second to none. Every room has underfloor heating, Cat 5 ethernet and a dedicated thermostat. A state-of-the-art heat-exchange system keeps the whole house warm in winter and cool in summer. Eight solar panels generate hot water and income of £1800 per year. There’s even a whole-house smart vacuum system. The list of eco-friendly conveniences goes on and on, all contributing to a commendable EPC B rating.

The Owners Say

The first thing you notice about this house is the light; it floods every inch of the space and breathes life into every room. On sunny days, the wraparound deck is the perfect barbeque spot. Sundays are spent at our huge table in the open-plan kitchen. Even on snuggly autumn days with the wood burner lit, the feeling of light and spaciousness never fades.

We bought the house when there were only two of us, and it served as a real social hub. There’s plenty of room for guests to stay and a drive big enough for a whole fleet. Now that there are four of us, the house has transformed into the perfect family home. We’ll miss being tucked away on our own private road, hearing over and over again, “we didn’t know this amazing house was here!”

Faringdon is situated close to Oxford and the Cotswolds. It has small-town charm, excellent schools and a real sense of community. Train links to London offer a choice of routes for work or play, but it’s always a pleasure to return to our clever ‘eco-tech’ home.

Points To Consider

The EPC gives a current Energy Efficiency and Environmental Impact Rating of B.

In the Vale of the White Horse, the house falls into Council Tax Band G (£3367).

The house has undergone gradual renovation, including extensive refits to the kitchen and bathrooms, installation of Luxaflex blinds and other eco-conscious updates.
