House For Sale £1,440,000
Chesson Road, London W14

Description
Description

"When I bought this house eighteen years ago my daughter was three months old and the flexibility of the accommodation really worked for me: It's incredibly versatile which is why i've not really needed to move and it's been a wonderful family home to house all the paraphernalia that's attached to children! In recent years it's become a place more suited to adults and the open plan layout of the bottom two floors has made it perfect for entertaining". Ms S opens up the door to her exquisite Fulham townhouse.

Chesson Road is a thoroughly charming leafy stretch of road in gentile South West London that's lined on each side with uninterrupted terraces of three-storey Victorian houses. This particular example has a distinctly artist's home quality about it, with airy rooms and lofty ceiling heights adding to the drama.

The house was comprehensively refurbished in 2015 to include redecoration, new kitchen, a new super-efficient boiler with app control, and the replacement of flat roof areas.

A few steps up to the front door and more or less immediately inside, you're in the grand formal living space with large sash windows to the front and back, and a warmly welcoming environment from subtle decorative tones.

On the lower floor of the house, the huge kitchen, dining and conservatory space is pretty much all the room you'll ever need. At the centre is a large family kitchen with painted wooden floors and the neutral styling found in the rest of the house. There's a sizeable entertaining area at one end that's hosted many a late night dinner party and, at the other, a light-filled and glass-roofed breakfast area that opens out directly into the courtyard garden. This floor also includes a utility area with guest loo.

Head up to the first floor and, alongside a family bathroom, you'll find an opulent primary suite where the stylish, uncluttered bedroom has a luxurious en-suite with tongue and groove clad walls and a freestanding Victorian roll top bath as its central focal point. No wonder this room is the favourite place to unwind for Ms S.

Another flight of stairs leads to a further two bedrooms that top the house off and bring the overall interior space to a little over 1800 sq ft.

This quiet enclave of Fulham attracts a diverse mix of creatives, business people and families, but one common theme is that they stay. The local markets and interesting variety of shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants draw you in so that you never want to leave, while the long-standing culture of museums, antique shops and design stores around South Kensington, Fulham and Kings Road creates as big a draw today as eighteen years ago.

Transport corrections are no less remarkable with four Underground stations within about 10 minutes walk - West Kensington, West Brompton, Parsons Green, and Fulham Broadway - all on the District line which runs through the West End and the City. You could also head to Barons Court (Piccadilly Line) for the tube to Heathrow.

The local food scene is one of London's best with too many great places to list in full, but Ms S heads to c'est near Barons Court for a Sunday morning coffee and pastry; Thai street food served locally and the Michelin-starred Harwood Arms for British fare. If sushi is your thing, try Iro Sushi on Lillie Road or, for totally guilt-free eating (and if you can actually get a table), the hugely popular 222 Vegan Cuisine is at the top of the street.
