Seller insight "When my husband and I first came across this house it was not in the best of states, " says the owner. "The previous owners had begun the process of renovation, however they didn't get around to finishing the job and instead left it empty for a number of years. So when we came there was half a kitchen, but not a lot else inside, and the weeds in the garden came up to the back windows… Nevertheless, the minute I stepped inside it just felt like home and we've since had thirty-four very happy years here."

"Not long after we moved in we set about transforming the house into a lovely family home. We put in a new kitchen – which has been updated during our time here – we had a lovely new bathroom and shower room put in and the décor was refreshed, and has been kept in good order over the years. It's a very comfortable house, but also quite quirky and has a wealth of lovely features both inside and out. The exterior walls are decorated with beautiful parget plasterwork and inside there are some lovely old exposed beams, really attractive fireplaces and in the kitchen we have an old Aga that's been fully refurbished so that creates a very cosy atmosphere. For us this has been the perfect home, but there's so much potential for it to be further enhanced by its next owners."

"The garden was a bit of a jungle when we moved here, in fact it was so bad that a local farmer had to come up with his tractor to help clear the weeds, so we didn't initially realise just how big it is, " continues the owner. "It extends to around half an acre and we have a large patio and the rest is mainly laid to lawn with a little stream running along one side so it's very pretty out there. And it was a great space for the children, very safe and secure, and now the grandchildren love to come and race around out there."

"I would have to choose the living room as my favourite part of the house, " says the owner. "In the summer I can have the door open and enjoy a lovely view of the garden, and on a cold winter's evening I love nothing more than to sit in front of the wood burner, cosy and warm with a glass of wine and a good book."

"Shortly after we came here we had a large detached garage built, " says the owner. "It was originally going to be an annex, so it's connected to the gas, electricity and water, and therefore, subject to obtaining the correct permissions, it definitely has the potential to be converted into a lovely little self-contained dwelling."

"This has been such a happy home, but my children have all flown the nest and it really needs a new family to fill it and enjoy, " says the owner. "i'll be sad to leave, but i'll take away some wonderful memories of our time here."

location Sible Hedingham is a small but very popular village of approximately 4,000 residents. The village has one pub, doctors surgery, two petrol stations, general village amenities as well as well regarded primary and secondary schools. It's also only 1.1 mile from Castle Hedingham with its well known historic castle and numerous shops, pubs and tea rooms. Private schools are available in nearby villages of Gosfield, Felsted and Stoke By Clare.

"This has been a lovely place to live and to raise our family, " says the owner. "The village has a Post Office, a very nice butcher's shop and a Co-op, so all day-to-day needs are catered for; there are some wonderful schools, both state and private, in the local area; the transport links are good – my husband used to commute into London every day – and we're also surrounded by some glorious countryside so we've been able to come home and really feel away from it all."
