House For Sale £349,950
Haywood Lane, Ashperton, Ledbury HR8

Description
Tunnel Cottage is a most interesting detached property believed to date back to the mid 1800's and constructed by Steven Ballard, the world famous engineer, who not only constructed this portion of the Hereford to Gloucester canal which adjoins the property but also built the original railway tunnel through the Malvern Hills.
The property offers charming well presented accommodation which benefits from oil fired heating and comprises at ground floor level a sitting room with fitted wood burner, a separate dining room, fitted kitchen, utility room and cloakroom. At first floor level a landing gives access to two double bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a off road parking area and the property has a large mature garden which straddles the canal over and around the entrance to the disused tunnel.

The large mature garden which straddles the old canal is a most interesting feature of the property. Around the cottage there is a level area of lawn to one side and a patio seating area to the side of the kitchen with a useful store. The ground extend to both sides of the disused canal in a U shape and are enclosed by fencing. There are many mature trees and the gardens steeply slope down to the canal. A small wooden foot bridge crosses over a steam and there is a small waterfall in wet weather on the far side bank. To the side of the property is a parking area for two cars. The water in the canal and the banks are not considered useable benfits, rather a natural feature and haven for wildlife.
