Description

Frant Grange

Frant Grange was built with the neighbouring Church of St. Alban in 1818 by Lord Abergavenny for his third son, the rector of the parish at the time. Significant additions are thought to have been made around 1860 to provide the classic proportions now consistent throughout the property, which is unlisted. The main house is white rendered with a slate roof, typical of the period.

Since our clients purchased in 2008, the property has undergone a significant program of up-dating and renovation using the well-known local architect Stephen Langer, including new timber windows, plumbing and cast iron radiators and electrics, and a new garage block with plant room and storage room above. In addition, in 2013, a very impressive ground floor indoor swimming pool with the linking garden room was added, completing the project. The end result is an elegant and spacious, yet practical country house, nicely situated in the village at the top of Church Lane, at one end of the charming High Street, enjoying some far reaching views west over the valley below. The extensive and versatile accommodation is arranged over three floors and is complimented by abundant cellars, which offer further potential. The main entrance to the house is through an impressive pillared portico, followed by two pairs of double doors into the hall. High ceilings and period features are a feature throughout the ground floor and the principle bedrooms on the first floor are nicely laid-out and proportioned, including a stunning master bedroom suite. The attic floor provides further accommodation and extensive storage.

Outside
The house is approached through double electric gates to a gravelled driveway and parking area at the front of the house, leading on to the large garage.

The garden is part walled, part fenced and mostly laid to lawn with mature trees and herbaceous borders. There is a formal stone terrace to the West of the property, along the back of the house, including the pool. Veiled behind established hedges is a useful equipment storage area.
