Glen Ayr is situated on Chaloners Road, which is the main road out of Braunton to Ilfracombe and so it is only a short distance from the village centre. Braunton is a large village which caters very well for it's inhabitants and is very well located for access to some of the regions most renowned beaches. Approximately 5 miles to the east are the superb sandy beaches at Croyde and Saunton. These are excellent surfing beaches and there is also the Saunton Golf Club with it's 2 championship courses. Woolacombe beach to the north is also ideal for surfing and this has been voted one of the top 10 in the world.

There are good primary and secondary schools, whilst there are a good range of restaurants, churches, pubs, Tesco and Cawthornes stores and a good number of local shops and stores.
