Tewin Water House was originally built for Lord Cowper in 1798, of Georgian neo Greek style with giant iconic columns. The property was later acquired by the Beit family, renowned diamond magnates and friends of Cecil Rhodes. They contributed many millions of pounds to worthy casuses and are buried in Tewin churchyard. Lady Beit eventually left Tewin Water in 1946 and it was sold to Hertfordshire County Council who converted it into a school. In 2002 Tewin Water House was restored to its former glory and converted into elegant homes, of which no. 3 forms a charming wing, retaining many period features, with generously sized rooms, large sash windows and good ceiling heights. Number 3 is accessed either via the grand main entrance hall with doors leading to the stunning communal grounds or by the private entrance adjacent to the parking space at the rear. The large reception rooms have an abundance of light and are fantastic entertaining spaces.
