Head across Shernhall Street to the Ravenswood, where your mind will be blown by the dazzling neon at God’s Own Junkyard and your thirst quenched at one of the fantastic craft breweries there. A short walk then takes you to Orford Road and its plethora of pubs, bars and restaurants. Go in the other direction and this takes you to Wood Street. As well as an amazing sense of community, Wood Street is rapidly becoming another must visit destination in E17. The Chocolatine bakery serves some of the best pastries in London, The Duke offers amazing pub grub and Marilucia is the place to go for authentic pizza. If you feel the need for exercise, Walthamstow Cricket Tennis and Squash Club is just around the corner on Greenway Avenue, whilst just up the hill past the station is the gateway to Epping Forest, offering the perfect spot for walking the dog, mountain biking, or just enjoying the scenery. We love this house and wish we could just pick it up and take it with us. It’s not just the house itself that has brought us a feeling of home; the community on Vallentin Road is very welcoming and proactive in developing the local community and we have loved being part of it. Wood Street is a great high street with lots of quirky little pubs, shops and coffee spots to explore, it is also home to lots of excellent baby groups for any young families. We have absolutely loved exploring Epping Forest which is pretty much on the doorstep as is the Ravenswood Estate with all the excellent breweries and Walthamstow Village itself.
