3 bed Flat For Sale £1,035,000
Gillespie Road, Highbury, London N5
previous price £1,075,000

Description
Concealed behind a converted storefront in Highbury is this three-bedroom maisonette with its own walled courtyard. Bright, spacious and airy, with plenty of room to work, relax and entertain, this home is an oasis in the heart of a thriving, friendly neighbourhood.

Brickworks Says

This three-bedroom home is an architectural marvel hidden in plain sight. Behind its storefront façade is an ingeniously reimagined space, bathed in light and arranged over two floors.

Downstairs is the big living/dining/kitchen area and self-contained study, both opening onto a pretty walled patio garden. It’s an unabashedly modern, almost loft-like space, thanks primarily to the clever reconfiguration of the big shopfront window as a skylight. Upstairs, a wall of glass filters light into the distinctly more period master suite, with its whitewashed brick walls, sash window and en suite shower room. There’s another meticulously remodelled bathroom on this floor, and the second bedroom is perfect as a kid’s quarters or a guest room. With plenty of subtly integrated storage and even a downstairs loo, this home strikes that elusive balance between comfort and convenience, communal space and private sanctuary.

Gillespie Park, with its pretty little nature reserve, is at the end of the road. The green spaces of Highbury Fields and Clissold Park are strollable, too. And Finsbury Park itself is just nearby, as are the indie shops, restaurants, pubs and nightspots between Highbury and Islington and Stoke Newington Church Street. Arsenal Underground station is on the doorstep, with Piccadilly Line service to Kings Cross in less than 15 minutes.

The Owners Say

This is a beautiful, calm home with a space for everything. It was extremely well thought out by the architects who designed it. We love the finishes and the style, and the space flows brilliantly. There are three loos, two showers and a bath, as well as a laundry room and outside space—hard-to-find luxuries for a flat in this part of town.

We’ve really loved living here. The neighbourhood is so lovely and quiet, and it’s getting hipper by the minute: Fink’s coffee shop just opened a branch three doors down!

Points To Consider

The EPC gives a current Energy Efficiency Rating of E.

In the Borough of Islington, the maisonette falls into Council Tax Band D (£1640.14).
