Description

Magog Farm Barns is a small scheme of former agricultural buildings which were converted into four separate dwellings in around 2000. The scheme occupies a unique spot tucked into the Gog Magog Hills just beyond the southern fringe of Cambridge with Wandlebury Woods as a backdrop.

Number 3 is a three storey conversion with an elevated ground floor entrance reached by a short flight of steps which lead up to double oak front doors opening into the entrance hall with oak staircase to the first floor. The double reception room, to the rear of the building, offers lots of space and flexibility with both sitting and dining areas. A Stovax wood burning stove and fireplace are situated to one end and a set of French doors to the other which lead out into the wonderful gardens that spread out behind the house. The well fitted kitchen with granite and Mahogany working surfaces and integrated double oven, ceramic hob and dishwasher and has a under floor heated limestone flooring and there is also a separate utility room with space and plumbing for washing machine and dryer and cloakroom.

At first floor level there are four bedrooms and the mellow coloured oak frame of the original barn is in evidence in a number of the rooms. The main bedroom has built-in wardrobes and an en suite bathroom with double shower, twin basins and marble tiling. A second guest bedroom has a door to an adjacent heated limestone floored bathroom with separate shower is also accessed off the landing and there are two further bedrooms. On the top floor there is a fifth bedroom which also has a shower room and a compact "kitchenette" which would work extremely well for a live in nanny or teenager being self contained and benefitting from a large bedroom with sitting area.

To the front the scheme is entered off the A1307 and a wide shingled area with garaging to the right hand side including a double garage with electric up and over door and parking in front for number 3. There is also a parking area in front of the barn.

To the rear, accessed from the French doors in the large rear reception room there is a paved terrace and the beautifully landscaped gardens rise up towards the rear boundary at various levels. Laid mainly to lawn there are well stocked herbaceous borders, a vegetable garden with asparagus bed and soft fruit bushes including raspberries. Of particular note at the far end of the garden is an oak framed summer house with double glazing, power and atmospheric lighting laid on and an adjacent decked area all designed to enjoy the superb outlooks onto the rolling hills and Wandlebury country park behind the property. In addition there is a garden shed and an area for storing garden furniture.
