“Being such a significant building in Reepham, the villagers seemed to be very happy we bought the property as it had stood empty for four years and was in a very sorry state – it hadn’t had anything done to it since the 1970s. We’ve renovated the entire property inside and out, overhauling the gardens, and completing all the standard projects inside – new bathroom and kitchen, and redecorating everything from floor to ceiling.”

“There are some quirky little historic features inside such as a church relic - a gargoyle - embedded in the wall under the hall stairs, taken from the ruins of Bardney Abbey (there’s another similar one in Bardney Museum), there are the old servants’ bells, and the original Victorian keys. The large pantry with its exterior wall made from Bardney Abbey stone, has its original, tiled, cold slab and meat hooks in the ceiling, and the huge barn still has an original Victorian laundry room with the old built-in laundry system.”

“All three front rooms are so sunny; two have the original fitted window seats in the big bays, and the dining room has French doors onto a little terrace under a pergola clad in a mature grapevine planted back in the 1930s.”

“I am obsessed with David Austen roses and have planted between eighty and ninety, so the gardens - and the house - look stunning in summer! There is a row of pink along the front by the railings, and three each side that clamber over the arch at the gate.”

“Simply sitting outside in the sunshine and looking up at the building is breath-taking; we get passers-by stopping and staring at the front in all its glory.”

“You can see Lincoln Cathedral from both the top balcony, which has a wrought iron balustrade, and from the roof – there’s a hatch from one of the bedrooms which takes you up there.”

Eve House, originally known as Bartle Garth, proudly stands in the centre of the little village of Reepham which lies about 4 miles northeast of the city of Lincoln. Very conveniently, the village store (with a post office) is on the corner opposite, and a highly sought-after primary school is across the road. There are good bus and road links for commuting to the historic city of Lincoln with its magnificent cathedral and castle on top of the hill, and where there is a wide variety of amenities including a choice of schools, the university, a train station, shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Similarly, in about 10 minutes in the opposite direction, there is a popular Farm Park at Rand, and Woodside Wildlife Park, whilst a little further on you reach The Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its rolling hills and pretty villages. Beyond this is marshland that stretches to the Lincolnshire coast.

For reaching London, a half hour drive to Newark to the southwest, and catching a fast train to Kings Cross (approx. 80 minutes) means a total journey time, door to door, into central London of about 2 hours. At Newark, you can also pick up the A1 trunk road.

Reepham C of E Primary School, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, is less than a hundred yards away on the other side of the road. For secondary education there is a wide choice. Within walking distance of Eve House is The Priory Pembroke Academy (for pupils 11-16 years old) in adjoining Cherry Willingham. Slightly further afield, and rated Outstanding by Ofsted, are William Farr C of E Comprehensive 12 minutes away (5.5 miles) and The Priory Academy lsst 15 minutes (8.3 miles). Three more options, rated Good, are Lincoln Castle Academy 11 minutes (6.4 miles), The Priory City of Lincoln Academy 16 minutes (10.6 miles) and Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School 9 minutes (3.8 miles).
