General Information
The site is situated on the island of Burra which is connected to mainland Shetland by fixed bridge links via the neighbouring island of Trondra. In fact Burra is usually thought of as being two islands, West Burra and the less populated East Burra, although they are actually linked by a causeway.

Site 20 is located at Bridge End roughly in the middle of West Burra, a couple of miles south of Burra's main population centre at Hamnavoe, the location of the island's amenities, where you will find a primary school, shop & post office, public hall & marina. There is also a garage with fuel pumps by the bridge over from Trondra, whilst further amenities can be found at Scalloway about 6 miles to the north, where there is further local shopping, another school and also a public swimming pool, although Lerwick, about 11 miles away, is still within easy driving distance or buses run from a stop close by the site.

Bridge End also has a marina where there is an outdoor centre with camping area, and there are several fine beaches on the island including Meal beach a couple of miles to the north, and Banna Minn to the south.

Planning Permission
Outline planning permission for the erection of two semi-detached houses was granted on 2 November 2017, Reference 2017/066. Details of the permission can be found on Shetland Island Council's own website at:-

It may be possible to vary the consent, e.g. A single dwelling house, or given the large size of the site, potential two houses, although prospective purchasers should consult the local planning department for further advice in this regard.

The purchaser would be responsible for complying with the terms of the planning permission.

Services
The site has already been decrofted. Mains services are understood to run on or close by the site therefore providing service connections should be relatively straightforward although purchasers should satisfy themselves in this regard by contacting the various service providers directly. The cost of service connections will be the responsibility of the purchaser. Maintenance of the private access road is shared.
