Three bedroom character cottage for sale in everdon Very attractive Seventeenth Century, three bedroom cottage for sale in the beautiful Northamptonshire village of Everdon. Built of local ironstone, this former Phipps Brewery public house has been owned by the vendors family for over fifty years and is now ready to welcome a new owner to write the next chapter in it's considerable history.

Interior downstairs The cottage is entered via the recessed door that originally belonged to the next-door cottage, the original pub door having been blocked up when licenced trading ceased in 1960.

The hallway gives way to the kitchen at the rear of the property and to the left, a door leads to the main reception room, which was originally the pub bar and lounge. It is a large room, but with the inglenook, oak beams and open fire place, feels cozy and characterful.

From here you enter the inner hallway, which leads to the second reception room, used as dining room, with it's own little bar tucked under the stairs and another open fire-place. Both reception rooms look out onto the village green and the well-built structure of the cottage is evident from the deeply recessed windows.

Back into the inner hall, there is currently both a shower room and a wet room, which could be combined to provide a great sized family bathroom, or one turned into a utility room, there are plenty of options for reconfiguration, as you will see.

From the inner hall, you can also enter the kitchen which faces the garden, fitted with cottage style pine units, quarry tile flooring, a solid fuel range provides heating and hot water and there is room for a breakfast table and a chairs.

There is a rear lobby/vestibule and from here there is access to the large double height stone barn which is used a garage and workshop. This is a great space that (with the appropriate permissions) could be converted to provide extra living space.

Upstairs Back into the inner hallway, a heavy door to the staircase leads up to the spacious landing with three bedrooms off this. There are two double bedrooms to the front of the house and a third, good sized single room to the rear. There is access to the very generous loft space, which offers more potential for conversion. The roof is in very good condition, having been replaced thirty years ago, and features a velux window to the rear slope.

Outside to the rear The rear lobby leads to the gravelled parking area, access to which is via the lane to the rear of the next door cottages, there are double doors to the garage/barn and also a carport next to that.

The garden is very pretty, but by no means small! A large lawn is enclosed by maturely planted borders, and leads to an area planted with shrubs and fruit tress, which separates the lawn from the extensive "working garden" featuring a vegetable plot and greenhouse. Beyond this, the garden terminates at a little brook with trees and hedgerow behind.

In all the plot is approximately 1/3 acre.

Location and surroundings The property occupies a commanding position right on the village green and is surrounded by other character properties everywhere you look.
Everdon (Meaning "Wild Boar Hill") lies three miles south of the market town of Daventry in the rolling hills of West Northamptonshire. Mentioned in the Doomsday Book, this picturesque village is a very desirable place to live, offering a quiet country lifestyle, but with close access to all the major commuter networks - the best of both worlds!
Nearby Everdon Stubbs is one hundred acres of deciduous woodland and a major draw for dog walkers, nature lovers and foragers - visit in the spring to see a mass of bluebells or in the autumn for golden hues.
The village has a pub, in the shadow of the 14C St Mary's Church and a village hall, a Grand Village Fete is held every summer (Pandemics allowing!) and Farthingstone Golf Club is 2.5miles away.
There are a number of Primary and Junior schools in the surrounding villages and nearby Weedon Bec provides the nearest shopping facilities.
