seller's insight We moved to the cottage in May 1977 when it had 2 upstairs bedrooms with a single storey extension housing a bathroom and a small room. Subsequently, in 1981, we added a large extension to the back of the house to extend the kitchen, add two further bedrooms and another bathroom. Our next project was to convert the dining room to a new entrance hall with porch. The floor is made of marble tiles edged with maple floor boards that came from an old dancefloor. The new, unique, front door came from the old Lion Walk church in Colchester when it was being demolished.
We also converted the downstairs room, initially into a dining room and then, subsequently, into a bathroom/utility room with underfloor heating.
Over the next few years we replaced all of the windows with hardwood, inward opening, double glazed units.
In 1992 we realised a dream and purchased the aga, which has been our constant companion ever since. It is part of the family!
In 2013/14 we added a new conservatory, creating a much more flexible ground floor space. At the same time we also replaced our aging boiler and many of the radiators.
Then in 2017/18 we completely upgraded our kitchen with new units and the latest solid core laminate worktops.
Our latest major project over the last year was to replace our old garage with a Garden Log Cabin/Home office, which is used as both a workshop and a garden room but could also be used as an office to work from home. At the same time we replaced our concrete patio with a stylish porcelain tiled patio/terrace. In addition we changed our aging oil tank with a new metal one.
As you look at the cottage, it looks like one house as the neighbour's front door is situated at the side of the house, out of view. So in fact, we are back to back and not overlooking each other.
Having been in the cottage for over 44 years, we had no real intention of moving on but, with family in Europe and the increasing travel restrictions, likely to be a feature for some while, we have decided to move to be closer to the family, albeit with some regret and sadness for leaving such a huge part of our life. Our heart and soul have gone into making this a very unique home and we hope that whoever follows will find the same joy living here as we have.

Additional features This property comes also with these additional and unique features, hyperfast broadband recently installed (up to 1000Mb/s), a pizza oven, a boule court, an outside toilet, multiple storage sheds, a greenhouse, hardwood windows throughout, underfloor heating in the downstairs bathroom, new water softener (2020), new certified electrical consumer unit (2020), blackout blinds fitted to all bedroom and a new metal oil tank (1200 lit) (2020).

Location Great Bromley is located 5.5 miles from Colchester town centre, which offers an array of shopping facilities, eateries and cinema. Access to the A120 is approximately two miles and provides communication routes via the A12 and M25 to London. There is easy access to the coastal towns of Frinton /Walton/Clacton (12 miles) and Harwich Port (11 Miles).
