What do you love most about your home? We love the bright and airy feel of the flat and the fact that it has amazing views of Canary Wharf and the river. To wake up in the morning and watch the boats sail by from your bed whilst having a morning coffee is something we will definitely miss the most! Tradewind Heights is very much a friendly community, with just 19 flats, all the neighbours are great. Having lived in London for over 20 years this is definitely the best place we've lived. The second bedroom has made all the difference during the current working-from-home situation, allowing a separate space for work. The block also has super-fast Hyperoptic Broadband.
What do you love about the area? In our opinion, Rotherhithe is a complete hidden gem and the community here is second to none. Being located on the Thames River Path is fantastic; whether you're into running, walking, cycling or skating, its popular all year round. Rotherhithe 'beach' is great when the tide is out and has been a lovely way to spend the afternoon during the past year. Russia Dock and Ecological Park is 5 minutes' walk where you'll find local honey for sale and various community initiatives to get involved in. Rotherhithe City Farm is fantastic, local produce for sale as well as a well-stocked coffee and cake shop. There are some excellent coffee shops that we love; including Canada Water Café, The Clock House, Secret Goldmine and Mouse Tail. The best family butchers in London (we think) is Bell & Son's Butchers who deliver to your door on their bike and has amazing quality fresh meat and produce.
Southwark Park is close by with tennis courts, running track, coffee shops and gallery, easy to spend a whole afternoon relaxing here with friends and a picnic. We love walking to Shad Thames and Tower Bridge for evening or weekend dinner/drinks where you'll find the Bridge Theatre and Ivy Restaurant too; all within a 20-minute walk.
Transport here is amazing, Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf is just one stop and under 10 mins to Green Park. Rotherhithe Overground is a 5-minute walk and you can get to Shoreditch in under 7 minutes.
Rotherhithe Village has the famous Mayflower Pub (excellent food!) and the Brunel Museum opposite has an outdoor organic cocktail garden and weekend Korean BBQs. You can even have a tour of the tunnel.
There is so much going on here and with the Canada Water Masterplan underway it is set to become London's top destinations.
