Pevsner wrote his article prior to the conversion of the property in the late 1980's and describes the building as 17th century in its earlier part, remodelled in 1770 and further alterations carried out between 1868 and 1877. The building is in part blue lias stone with Victorian part built in brick under a tiled roof.

The property is Leasehold for a term of 999 years from 01 January 1982. Subject to a ground rent and service charge. Deed of Variation 15 February 1989 includes the greenhouse as part of the 999 year lease.
