The rural traditional village of Minsterworth lies on the western side of the River Seven on the Northern Edge of the Forest of Dean, within easy reach of the Cathedral City of Gloucester.
Easily Accessed alongside the A48 & A40 roads Minsterworth is one of the best places to view the Severn Bore, one of Britain's few truly spectacular natural phenomena, where people can be seen surfing and water skiing from the local water ski club.
The beautiful Victorian St Peters Church perched on the banks of the River Severn is steeped in History being founded before 1261 as a place of worship. The present church, a Grade II* listed building, was built towards the end of the 19th century but retains features from its predecessor such as the 15th century stone font and a finely carved Jacobean pulpit preserved. The churchyard is home to three ancient yews trees in the churchyard, and F. W. Harvey, war poet and broadcaster, dubbed the "Laureate of Gloucestershire", is buried in the village churchyard. A selection of F.W. Harveys poems can often by found in the “The Villager” the monthly village newsletter free to all parishioners.
At The heart of the Minsterworth is the attractive and much used Village Hall adjoining which is the Village Football Ground. The hall is used by a number of local community groups, and often holds events and concerts as well as being a beautiful wedding venue. A recent addition to the village is the the establishment of a local Community and Education named the Harvey Centre. The Centre will provide a hub for a range of activities for adults, children and young people.
Minsterworth is renowned for its history in salmon-fishing and elvering which combined with farming and fruit picking provided the income for many of the families in the village. Fishing for elvers remains an important activity on the River Severn and was the inspiration behind the creation of the local Severn and Wye Smokery. Located a short 5 minutes drive away from Minsterworth the Severn & Wye Smokery is a state of the art, purpose-built fish processing plant at Westbury-on-Severn, as well as a fish market, chef’s larder, gift shop and café it is also home to the highly rated and popular open-plan restaurant and state-of-the-art theatre style kitchen.
Minsterworth offers an active community with various countryside walks, natural wildlife throughout and has a local butchers and the 'Severn Bore' public House.
Just 4 miles away is the Cathedral city of Gloucester city with its many museums and attractions including the gothic cathedral the site of Henry iii’s coronation and the final resting place of King Edward II. Being positioned on the edge of the Forest of Dean there is easy access to ancient woodlands and countryside offering numerous trails available to explore on foot, by bike or horseback as well as many unique and varied tourist attractions including Clearwell Caves, Dean Forest Railway and Puzzlewood.

The Regency Spa town of Cheltenham is 12 miles away, with the Market town of Ross on Wye and the Wye Valley is 14 miles away. The A40 provides easy access to Junction 11 of the M5 and the Cotswolds is less than 30 minutes drive away.

Gloucester train station is 4 miles away and provides direct train links to London Paddington & Birmingham New Street. Brisolt and Birmingham, International Airports are just over an hours drive away.
