When you buy a house you have seen the property looked at the road and know about the local schools, shops, church and probably the pubs and restaurants but for most people they don’t know what it’s actually like to live in that road or area. I’m hoping that writing this will help in some way to make your mind up.
We’ve been lucky to have lived here for 26 very happy years. Our children have had a great time growing up here and attending the local schools and many activity clubs in the area. However, the main thing about living in the St Mary’s/Mayfield’s road is, without doubt, the neighbours and community spirit. We all know that over the years this spirit has all but disappeared in many areas but not here. We have such a wonderful friendly neighbourhood and we all try and get together each year for our annual street party. We hold it on our little green in the road and everyone brings their BBQ food and of course drinks and a good time is had by all. We have games for the children, cake competition and of course a family fun quiz. The children of the road are still able to play outside and ride their bikes or play ball on the green and we all know they are as safe as they can be. During this past year with lockdown and restrictions we’ve all helped out looking after our elderly residents and those that have been in isolation or are vulnerable.
To offer evidence of that community spirit it isn’t any wonder that a fair few families have not wanted to move away so they have just sold up and upsized to bigger houses within the road.
I could carry on with so many examples of why you should consider living here and I will miss it so much, especially our neighbours, some of whom have become life long friends.
So ending on that note I truly hope whoever buys our house will be very happy and I know you will love living here.
