House For Sale £2,000,000
Siddington, Cirencester, Gloucestershire GL7

Description
Upper Siddington House is the archetypal Cotswold house, built very much in the vernacular style with gabled elevations and mullioned windows. It is believed to date from the late 17th century and is Listed Grade II. Discreetly located on the south western edge of the village, the house has distant southerly views over the adjoining countryside. Internally the property has great charm and character. The oak-panelled dining room has an elaborate plasterwork ceiling which was actually installed in the 20th century; albeit it appears much older. There are two further reception rooms and a bright and sunny kitchen/breakfast room. There are seven bedrooms on the first and second floors and a good-sized study.

Upper Siddington lies on the western edge of Siddington, a popular and thriving village with a pub, village hall, primary school and village shop/post office. There is a regular bus service to Cirencester, Cheltenham and Swindon.

Cirencester is conveniently about a 1½ miles drive and has an excellent range of shops and services including a Waitrose, Marks and Spencer’s Food and Tesco, as well as traditional and specialist shops and regular markets. The highly acclaimed and award winning Barn Theatre, the Corinium Museum and the Brewery Arts Centre lead the town’s cultural offer.

The main regional centres are Cheltenham, Bath, Bristol, Swindon and Oxford, all of which are within daily commuting distance. The A419 dual carriageway is about 2 miles, for access to junction 15 of the M5 at Swindon. Direct rail services to London Paddington from Kemble (from about 75 minutes) or Swindon (from about 55 minutes).

Ample local sporting opportunities include a number of golf courses and water sports at the Cotswold Water Park. Many equestrian events include polo at Cirencester Park and racing at Cheltenham.

Apart from the village primary school there is an excellent choice of grammar schools and a good choice in the private sector. The latter include Beaudesert Park, Pinewood, Rendcomb and the Cheltenham Colleges.

There is a gravelled parking area to the north of the house, adjoining which is a triple garage with storage above. To the south is a detached period cottage, comprising a sitting room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

Upper Siddington House has a pretty garden, with lawns and borders interspersed with mature trees and shrubs. There is a vegetable garden on the far side of the drive beyond which is the former canal, a haven for wildlife. To the south of the house is a grass paddock.
