The historic Abbey town of Sherborne is about 8 miles to the west. There are many independent schools in the area including the Sherborne schools, Chilton Cantelo, Millfield, Bruton, Port Regis and Bryanston. There is a state school in nearby Wincanton as well as the primary school in Horsington itself. From the property there is excellent walking, cycling and riding. There is National Hunt racing at Wincanton and Taunton, flat racing at Bath and Salisbury and hunting with the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale.
