Historical note
Colton House is an impressive Grade II* listed property which is believed to date from around 1730. In the late 1770’s, it was the home of Mr William Pigott, a relative of Henry VII and 11th in line to the Crown. During its history the house has gone through several uses and transformations. By the mid 1800’s it was used as a boarding school, and during the second world war the British army were in occupation, after which it was converted into flats. By the end of the 1980’s the house had been extended and refurbished and converted back to a single dwelling, later becoming a successful bed and breakfast business.
