From the parking there is a picket gate opening to the cottage's garden which lies to the front of the building. The garden has been beautifully landscaped with a lawn area bordered by beds planted with a variety of cottage shrubs and flowers and enclosed using willow fencing creating an interesting scene as well as old stone wall that lies to the other boundary. The path from the gate leads to a seating area that enjoys the morning sun and a view up the hill and continues to the front door. There is also the undercroft, which provides sheltered seating and winter log store . The disused well now serves as additional log storage. The garden enjoys the summer sun for most of the day
