Planning permission was originally granted by Harrogate Borough Council in October 1992 for the conversion of farm buildings to a dwelling, workplace and garaging – application number . The property was then known as Higher Platts Farm. A further application was granted in August 1994 for the conversion of the farm buildings to form an additional dwelling with ancillary workspace and garaging – application number . This permission was renewed in May 1996 – application number 6.73.38.B.renew. A copy of the 1996 Decision Notice is included in these particulars.
The vendors undertook some works to the barn and Harrogate Borough Council confirmed in a letter dated 29 July 1998 that “having regard to the written material provided together with evidence inspected at a site visit on 27 May 1998, they were happy to confirm that adequate works connected with the approved conversion were commenced prior to the expiry date on 28 June 1997 and the consent is therefore still valid and works can continue in accordance with the approved details”.
