Turning two converted flats back into one period home would perhaps be a daunting task but Pier, with the help of his team, set about pulling the place apart and re-assembling it. In the process, they started to uncover period features that had been hidden for years and the project just got better and better. The re-fit really was from the ground up: Re-wiring, re-plumbing, new stairs and double glazed wood sash windows.
A cleverly installed bathroom suite in the original roof void sits atop a house that now has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a home office, two formal reception rooms with dividing doors (which were unearthed during the renovation) and a family-sized reception/kitchen that occupies the whole lower floor, finished with Pier's signature polished plaster walls.
Head out into the secluded rear garden and a series of brick built store cupboards completed the practical side of things along with a handy door to access the street; a clever touch which means larger items don't have to be dragged through the house.
Culturally, this is a rich and varied part of town. Shops and supermarkets are only yards away, as is the Well Street Kitchen deli and coffee shop, a local favourite. If you're feeling a touch more energetic, Dalston, Victoria Park Village and Stratford are all within walking distance.
The green scene is also well catered for. Out of the house and turn left and wander up to Well Street Common or Victoria Park is just a little further.
