Historic information about the house as provided by the owner.

The Bulls Head Inn was originally the first cottage near the road (it dates to the 16th century). The place of the cottages used to be the site of the stables and blacksmith. The cottages were built in the earlier part of the 19th century (on research I have read 1816). They were built as farm labourers’ cottages, and they reused resources from the buildings built there before. The Bull’s Head was a royalist hold during the civil war and the fields next to the property are said to be a place of a civil war battle. It also mentioned that area was used as a Jacobite meeting place. I have also heard that it is mentioned in the doomsday book. I have also found out that the royal train used to use the sidings at the old Lowton station at Bulls Head junction for overnight stops, with stories of Prince Philip visiting the inn for a drink (I think that it was the Victorian one at the top of the road though).
