Arundel Road is an excellent location. Whether you work in Croydon or London, it's a short journey because you're so close to three local train stations and so many buses. It's an easy, straight run to East Croydon along Sydenham Road. The walk is just 10 minutes' and we could actually leave home and be in London in just 30 minute; this has been very handy for some nights out. For nights in we were spoilt for choice with a broad selection of takeaway shops plus there is a Tesco Express literally around the corner, as well as a Co-Op and Londis around the other.
Having a garden was really important to us and the garden here is very secure as only the residents can get to the back of the houses. It's like a little community of its own with all of the neighbours being so friendly.
The wet room is a useful, practical area and the underfloor heating in there, as well as the kitchen, meant no chilly toes on winter mornings. There is also plenty of drying space for rainy days and we kept a rotary line in the garden for airing our washing on dry days. But our favourite space was the kitchen, it has everything you need built in and lots of cabinets space too. So much time was spent in there cooking, working and relaxing with the patio doors open wide, you feel really connected to the space outside whatever the weather.
The property was the perfect size and layout for us and we found that the bills were really affordable. That said, the kitchen and bathroom spaces are so generous, several of our neighbours have reconfigured them to create an open living space and in doing so turned their property in to a generous two double bedroom maisonette. We did consider this but having spent so much in recent years making it right for us we didn't have the heart to change it all again.
We think the property is perfect as it is for first time buyers, an individual or young couple or even a growing family if you wanted to use it as a two bedroom. Fortunately, we've already found our new home so it's available without any chain to delay things."
