Location

New Buckenham
New Buckenham is an historic village set in open countryside to the south-west of Norwich. It still retains its original 12th-century street plan and has a large number of attractive period and listed buildings. Of particular interest are the Market Cross on the village green, St Martin's Church and the ruins of Buckenham Castle. The village is surrounded by an extensive network of footpaths and is home to one of the largest areas of common land in the district - New Buckenham Common covers about 100 acres, much of it designated a Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The village also has a thriving pub, shop and cafe. Sports facilities include a cricket pitch, football field and badminton court. The village hall has state of the art sound and lighting equipment and is the focus for community and arts events throughout the year. Touring theatre, cinema, art and photographic exhibitions, horticultural shows and pantomimes are all regular events.
School buses stop at the green in the centre of the village; high and primary schools are both less than two miles away in neighbouring Old Buckenham. New Buckenham is small, so everything is within easy walking distance. It is an extremely friendly and welcoming place to live.
