Castle Avenue, London E4

Description
A stylish, spacious and utterly palatial four bedroom semi-detached Victorian townhouse. Set back by a substantial driveway and imposing brick frontage, you have a wealth of vintage features, large garden and 1640 square feet of space.

Set in our unique leafy sweetspot of Highams Park, you're surrounded by nature here, and yet Highams Park overground with it's fast direct runs to the City is less than five minutes on foot.

If you lived here…

You'll be experiencing the substantial, grandiose architecture of the impressive historical home on a daily basis. Set back from the leafy road and significantly elevated, the aspect impresses before you've even set foot inside. Through your stained glass front door, your hallway has ornate original mouldings overhead, two tone finishes to the walls and distressed karndean hardwood underfoot, A nice blend of classic and contemporary.

Immediately on your left is the first of your three (yes, three) reception rooms. Totalling 210 square feet, in here you have plantation shutters on the large bay window, while centre stage is nonetheless taken by a gloriously oversized vintage marble mantelpiece and gun metal hearth. Next door, and also accessible by a large set of timber internal doors for a huge open plan space, is your rear reception, featuring another, equally imposing, ornate mantelpiece.

Head down the hall past a lushly appointed spare WC and handy fitted storage, and you come to reception three - your salubrious dedicated dining room of 160 square feet, with a more subtle, but still striking, ebony vintage hearth and mantel. Next door's your kitchen, skylit, bright and beautiful, and finished in a mix of eggshell blue and white with a large Dublin sink. Here's also where you access your huge rear garden; an immaculately landscaped ninety five foot long blend of patio, gravel and lawn with plenty of secluded seating areas and thriving mature trees. Endlessly explorable, it's a veritable leafy green solace.

Back inside and upstairs your master bedroom is an especially substantial 180 square foot, with more of those delightful plantation shutters on the bay and another signature vintage hearth. Walls are finished in tranquil mint green up to the picture rail. Bedroom two is another similarly styled double, while bedroom three leads into four, both sizeable affairs ideal for a child or home office. Finally, both bathrooms are as spick and span as you'd expect. Your first features a curvaceous walk in shower cubicle while the second is home to a charming freestanding tub. Whichever is your favourite, hectic mornings are a thing of the past.

Outside, and the original cast iron namesake natural space of The Highams Park is less than a half mile on foot. Perfect for morning runs, afternoon picnics and evening strolls, here you'll find some tremendous views, rolling parkland and, of course, the tranquil blue waters of Highams Park Lake. Created at the turn of the century by landscape gardener Humphry Repton and later made famous by Blue Peter, it's a proud local landmark. Mr Repton is immortalised in Humphry's Cafe just the other side of the park. Finally, Highams Park station is just a five minute walk and will get you straight to Liverpool Street in twenty four minutes. Alternatively Walthamstow Central is just five minutes and two stops away, for a quick hop to the Victoria line.

What else?

- Parents will be pleased to know you have twenty two primary/secondary schools in a one mile radius alone, all rated 'Good' or better by Ofsted. The 'Outstanding' Oakhill Primary is less than a half mile on foot.
- You have off street parking and drivers can be on the arterial North Circular in barely three minutes.
- As impressively substantial as this vast property already is, there's actually plenty of scope remaining for further development as the loft space is so far untouched. Subject to the usual permissions, you could add a whole new storey and your own chapter to its history.

A word from the owner...

"We have lived in this house for the last 15 years . When the previous owner asked if we were moving here because of the good schools we were confused not realising that there were good schools right behind the house! We were too excited that our favourite Indian restaurant was just across the road!
Saying that our girls went to the Primary and secondary school on Handsworth Ave and loved it especially as they used to leave the house when they heard the school bell and still made it in time for registration!
We are in a fabulous location and really could do without a car if needed. All the shops, facilities public transport into central London on the doorstep.
We have had an extremely happy family life, bringing up 2 children in this house. Spending lots (and lots!) of time in the park and forest.
Everyone who visits always comments on the homely atmosphere in the house and the garden has seen many a fun BBQ and is a quiet oasis.
We know lots of the locals and many knew our Dog Blue.
We will be sad to leave but Australia calls. A new life, new chapter but we will never forget our happy years in Highams Park."
