north huish North Huish is a tiny hamlet with a population of around 300 hundred people. There has been a settlement here for over a thousand years, and it was mentioned the Doomesday Book of 1086 as 'The Manor of Hewish'.

South brent The moorland village of South Brent stands in the valley of the River Avon under the southern foothills of Dartmoor National Park and on the northern edge of the lovely South Hams, fifteen miles from the centre of Plymouth.

The village is one with a strong community with three churches, one of which dates back to Norman times, a primary school and a wide variety of shops. There are well-regarded community colleges at Totnes and Ivybridge, approximately eight and five miles distant respectively, and both towns offer a comprehensive range of facilities for the wider community. Some of the finest beaches on the south coast, along with the South West Coast Path, are all within easy reach.

Situated just off the A38 Expressway, the village is well placed for quick access to Plymouth, Torbay and Exeter for which there are regular bus services. It is the second oldest borough in England, with an ancient Guildhall and Church, a Norman Castle and its North and East Gates. There is a well-regarded community college and a mainline railway station and Dartmoor, the South Hams and many of its fine beaches are within easy reach.

Directions From the A38 Devon Expressway take the South Brent junction and follow the signs for Avonwick/Totnes B3372. As you enter the viallage of Avonwick take the right hand turn directly opposite The Avon Inn signed North Huish. After approximately 100 metres turn left again signed North Huish. Follow this road up the hill for approximately 2 miles, you will see the church spire on the right hand side, Church House Barn can be found adjacent to the church on the left hand side of the lane.
