Description

Box Cottage is a special home offering all the period charm you would expect from a country cottage in such an idyllic setting. Approximately 200 years old, the detached cottage has a southerly aspect and is set within a rectangular plot of circa 0.25 acres. A gravelled path leads to the front door which is flanked by a porch with stone seats. A welcoming hallway awaits, with a living room and sitting room off, both with pretty fireplaces with decorative tiled insets and exposed beams. The rear hall has a door to the garden as well as accessing the dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, utility and cloakroom. A first floor landing serves the master bedroom with dressing closet and en-suite shower, plus a second double bedroom, a bathroom and useful store room. The remaining bedrooms are under the eaves on the second floor. The gated driveway is flanked by a double garage operated by electric doors, with an internal staircase to a potential home office with light and power installed. There is a spacious, purpose built Workshop to the rear of the cottage. The garden is delightful, well stocked and a blaze of colour in the summer and offers privacy and seclusion with lovely views.

General Information

Box Cottage is within the Village Conservation Area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Directions

From our Minchinhampton Office, turn right into West End and then first left into Cuckoo Row. At the far end of this road, fork right towards Minchinhampton Common and then almost immediately left for Box. Continue into the village and Box Cottage will be found on the right immediately prior to a sharp right hand bend.

Location

Box is a well kept secret. It shelters beneath the glorious open expanse of Minchinhampton Common with spectacular south-westerly views. The great majority of its properties are period, with any new development carefully controlled and there is minimal passing traffic on the little lanes that wind through the village. As a community, Box is very much alive, with an excellent local magazine and frequent events taking place in the village hall. Box Cottage is at the eastern end of the village, within walking distance of the historic market town of Minchinhampton. With excellent amenities, Minchinhampton has a general store, butcher, chemist, post office, doctor and dental practices and a popular primary school. Box is surrounded by glorious countryside with many public footpaths and a community owned wood. There are good pubs in the vicinity and three challenging golf courses in Minchinhampton. London is within 2 hours by road and circa 90 minutes by train from nearby Stroud which also has a major Waitrose and other supermarkets. Nailsworth, just down the hill, also offers an excellent range of independent retailers.
