In a very tranquil spot surrounded by open fields but just a short distance from the fenland village of Gorefield in North Cambridgeshire, is the most charming little chapel on about a half-acre, enclosed plot of land. It was originally constructed in 1908 – as a stone plaque denotes on the gable end - in a very attractive mix of yellow and red brick with terracotta egg-and-dart decorative detailing under the eaves. The plaque also names the chapel 'Primitive Methodist' referring to Methodists who saw themselves as practising a purer form of Christianity, closer to the earliest Methodists. Exactly a hundred years later, work on the far gable end records 2008 on another plaque, and even more recently, a complete modernisation of the interior has transformed it into a well-appointed, comfortable, bijou home.
