Barnstaple & braunton


Barnstaple which sits astride the River Taw is the largest town in North Devon and offers a good range of shops, schools, services and amenities.

Planning history


Outline planning permission for up to 59 dwellings was approved on 21st September 2021 via appeal (Ref.app/X1118/W/21/3271336) following a refusal notice from North Devon District Council (Ref.71660) dated 12th February 2021. The associated S106 agreement details items such as 30% affordable housing requirement and various contributions towards education, off-site public open space, etc.

Previously North Devon Council granted planning permission for the formation of a luxury campsite together with the erection of a reception building incorporating café & shop and campsite facilities at Chivenor Cross, Chivenor under application 56106 dated 11 November 2013.

Subsequently an application under ref 60489 was approved on 17 February 2016 for a variation of Condition 2 attached to planning permission 56106 to allow for the inclusion of managers accommodation.

Application 64584 for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 & 5 of planning permission 60489, were confirmed in a letter from the Council dated 24 April 2018 as acceptable and these conditions are discharged and the planning permission was then commenced.
