Whitby is about three miles to the north, a popular and famous seaside town steeped in history with a ruined gothic Abbey and active fishing port. There is a wide range of shops, restaurants and pubs in the town centre along with supermarkets and a leisure centre.

In addition there are cricket, rugby and football clubs within the town. The train line is on the Esk Valley Line, which runs between Middlesbrough and Whitby. There are a number of primary schools within the area, along with Caedmon College.

Description

Estbek House Hotel is a handsome Grade II listed property within the heart of the village, originally built around 1750 for the use of the manager of the Alum works, in 1920 the property became a guest house.

This prominent property currently operates as an established and award winning restaurant and hotel, the layout of the house could be adapted, subject to the necessary planning consents, to be used as a family home. Over the last 18 years the owners have created an exceptional dining experience along with inviting rooms for guests to stay above the restaurant.
