Wateringbury station (approx. 0.5 miles)) serves Maidstone West (with a high-speed connection to London St Pancras in approx. 57 minutes) and Paddock Wood and Tonbridge (with fast trains to London Cannon Street and Charing Cross in approx. 47 minutes) and Ashford station in around 10 minutes.

Paddock Wood and West Malling are both within five miles from Nettlestead, with local shopping, independent boutiques, cafes, bars and a Waitrose Supermarket. From West Malling you can be in London in less than 50 minutes.

There are a great many schools in the locality including Wateringbury Primary School and Yalding Primary School, which has recently been awarded an Outstanding Ofsted Report. The secondary schools in Maidstone, are easily accessible by rail, bus and car and Sevenoaks is approx. 10 miles away, with its fine selection of both state and private schools.
