Church Lane, Axbridge BS26

Description
Description Offering deceptive and recently refurbished accommodation is this warm and inviting period cottage. The property briefly comprises; entrance hall, living/dining room with brick-built fireplace, newly fitted kitchen, utility/rear porch, two double bedrooms and family bathroom WC.

Midway Cottage offers an indisputable church view through traditional cottage windows and sympathetic interior design.

Entering through what historically was 'the old walkway', converted into this wide and spacious entrance hall, fitted with beautiful terracotta tiled flooring. The hallway and kitchen benefit from updated electrical wiring and smooth plaster. The kitchen is modern whilst still sympathetic to the cottage's age and offers an integrated cooker with hob and a handy separate utility/porch with new combination boiler. The family bathroom is a neat design with white wall tiles, full length bath, basin, and toilet. Upstairs are two good sized bedrooms boasting superb storage space, from fitted cupboards to the insulated loft.

Outside there is a rear courtyard, great for the morning sun with space enough for a table and chairs, a barbecue, a few herb pots, and a clothesline.

The position really is second to none in this historic town, indeed Midway Cottage is set in a lane leading to the church just up from the square which boasts several other historic buildings, not least King John's Hunting Lodge which dates from Tudor times and the aforementioned 13th Century Church of St John the Baptist, a beautiful Grade I listed building. However, coupled with its charm and character, it is a highly convenient location, boasting amenities, pubs and restaurants, very good local schools, transport routes for the commute and some of the most beautiful surrounding countryside for walking that anyone could hope to find.

Refurbished and offered with no chain, so an early viewing will be essential!

Our vendor says I completely fell in love with this house the moment I walked through the front door - it's quirky character and cosy nature was exactly what I was looking for to call home.

We have noticed First time buyers, downsizers or investors... Are you looking for something a bit unique? Then look no further than Midway Cottage. This character packed country cottage is deceptive in its accommodation and offers easy access to the plethora of amenities that Axbridge offers.

Situation Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the east side of the A38 and overlooked by Wavering Down and Crooks Peak is the ever-popular medieval town of Axbridge (). This Somerset town is packed with 'old world' charm and its Medieval beginnings are still evident in some of its oldest buildings. An important wool-producer in the Middle Ages, the town has always been at the centre of things, indeed it was a river port in earlier times. This was reflected in its early royal charters allowing it to hold markets, fairs and become a royal borough. It even had its own mint, with coins showing the town's symbol: The Lamb and Flag. There is far less through traffic nowadays, but the layout of the town has changed little over the centuries, a medieval town expanding on a fortified Saxon burgh. Axbridge is well served for local facilities include post office, general stores, primary () and middle () schools (Fairlands being in Cheddar) and a number of restaurants. Further facilities are available in the nearby villages of Winscombe and Cheddar and as mentioned, primary and nursery schools are available at Weare and Axbridge with older children attending Kings of Wessex School () or private/public schools at Sidcot, Wells Cathedral School and Millfield. The town has good access to the City of Bristol and the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare and there is access to the motorway network at Clevedon (junction 20), St. Georges (junction 21) and Edithmead (junction 22). There is an international airport at Lulsgate and access to a mainline railway station at Yatton.

Directions Travelling into Axbridge from the bypass proceed into West Street and continue down towards the Square. Continue through the Square into St Mary's Street and Church Lane can be found a little way up on your left-hand side, the property is found 'midway' up the lane on your right.
